Zoe (ζωή)

The Greeks had two words for life. Bios — biological time on the clock (root of biology). Zoe — the very life-principle itself, the uncreated life of God. When John writes about eternal life, he does not mean bios stretched forever. He means Zoe — God's own life in you, right now. To have the Son is to have that Life (1 John 5:12). Your spirit is not waiting to receive Zoe. You already have it.
