Human life, even a long one, is brief compared with eternity. Scripture is honest about this without ever being cruel about it. The point is not that your life is worthless but that it is short — and those are opposite claims. Facing the brevity is precisely what stops us from wasting it. And notice that when God promises long life in Psalm 91:16, He treats the salvation as the greater gift.

Application
What This Means for You
Your life being brief is not the same as your life being small. Steam is not nothing — it is warm, visible, and proof that something is alive underneath.
Care for your health, rest, eat wisely, plan responsibly. But do not make health, youth, longevity, or the fear of aging into a god.
A person can live many years and still miss the purpose of life. A person who knows Christ has received eternal life even if their earthly years are few.
