Did you know one of the last things Jesus said on the cross was an accounting word? He cried out, "It is finished." In Greek, that's one word: tetelestai. Back then, people wrote that word on receipts and bills. And it meant one thing: paid in full. Nothing left to pay. Now think about everything that stood between you and God. The sin. The shame. The distance. Jesus didn't pay a deposit. He didn't set up a payment plan. He paid the whole bill. The Hebrew Bible has a word for this too: shalam. To pay in full. To make whole. It's the root of shalom: peace where nothing is missing, and nothing is broken. So you're not paying God back. You're not working off what you owe. The account is closed. In your favor.
