Repentance from Entanglement & the Renewed Mind
Entanglement rarely starts with a crash. It starts with a small compromise you stopped noticing. Repentance is how you lay the weight down.
The Scriptures
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
The anchor — the turn renews the mind.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."
Shed what slows you down.
"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
The put-off / put-on exchange.
"Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."
New identity, new conduct.
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Guarding the heart's affection.
"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."
Decisive break with the old.
The Anchor Verse
Romans 12:2
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
— KJV
The turn renews the mind. Repentance is not only the door in — it is the ongoing renovation of the believer: put off the old man, put on the new, and keep the mind fresh.
Application
Saved people can still get tangled — rarely by one great fall, usually by small compromises that pile into weight. Repentance is how you lay that weight down.
This is repentance as ongoing renovation: put off the old man, put on the new, and keep the mind being renewed. Old mindsets get replaced with God's ways, old habits with Kingdom order.
Mature believers are not people who never step off the path — they are people who turn back fast. Make the quick turn a daily rhythm, not a crisis.
