Seven Prayers You Can Pray Today

Father, I come just as I am. I have tried to do life on my own, and I have fallen short. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again to bring me home to You. Today I turn to Him. Forgive me. Wash me clean. Be my Lord and my Life. And fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so I can live the way You made me to live. Thank You for hearing me — I know You have. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis Romans 10:9–13 · Luke 18:13

If you prayed that and meant it, God heard it. That is His promise, not our opinion: "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). Tell someone. Find a Bible-teaching church. And start talking to Him daily — you have a Father now.

Father, You promised to give Your Spirit to those who ask — so I am asking. Fill me. Lead me. Be my power for victory, my comfort in trouble, and my helper when I do not know what to pray. Grow Your fruit in me, and use my life as a blessing. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis Luke 11:13 · Acts 1:8

Jesus attached this one to a direct promise: "how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him" (Luke 11:13). The Spirit is a Person and a gift, received by grace through faith — never a technique you unlock, and never a reward for praying correctly.

Father, I bring You everything I am carrying — every worry, every "what if." I lay it down here, with thanks, because You are good and You are near. Guard my heart and mind with the peace only You can give. I trade my anxiety for Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis Philippians 4:6–7 · 1 Peter 5:7

Notice the two words Paul refuses to leave out: "with thanksgiving." Anxious prayer stares at the problem; thankful prayer remembers the Provider. The peace promised is one that "passeth all understanding" — you are not required to understand it for it to stand guard.

Father, You are the God who heals. I bring this body, this pain, this need to You, and I trust Your goodness. Touch me according to Your will and Your love. Whatever the answer, hold me, sustain me, and let Your grace be enough. I rest in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis James 5:14–16 · Psalm 103:2–3

Pray boldly and hold the outcome in His hands. James tells us to ask and to call the elders; Paul shows us a "no" that was still an answer — "my grace is sufficient for thee" (2 Corinthians 12:9). An unhealed body is never evidence of a failed faith, and praying is never a reason to step away from medical care.

Father, I do not want anything between us. I confess my sin — I name it before You. Thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse. Create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit in me. I stand in Your grace with nothing hidden. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis 1 John 1:9 · Psalm 51

Confession restores fellowship; it does not re-purchase your salvation. John describes God as "faithful and just to forgive" — not reluctant, not weighing whether you deserve it. Say it, receive it, and walk on. "There is therefore now no condemnation" (Romans 8:1).

Father, I lift up ______ to You. Where they are weak, be their strength. Where they are lost, be their way. Root them and ground them in Your love. Open their eyes to how wide and long and high and deep Your love really is. I stand in the gap for them today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis Ephesians 3:14–19 · James 5:16

The Hebrew word for intercession, pāgaʿ, means to press upon — to reach God on someone else's behalf. You are joining something already in progress: Christ "ever liveth to make intercession" (Hebrews 7:25). Someone right now is being carried by a prayer they will never know was prayed.

Father, before this day begins, I lift it to You. Your mercies are new this morning — thank You. Order my steps, guard my words, and let everything I do be a blessing to someone. Keep my heart close to Yours all day long. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture basis Psalm 5:3 · Lamentations 3:22–23

David prayed in the morning and then did something we usually skip: he waited and looked up (Psalm 5:3). Give the first minutes of the day to the One who already holds the rest of it.
